Patricia Anderson has always enjoyed working with her hands. Starting in 4th grade at a progressive elememtary school in Buffalo NY, she took elective courses in art, ceramics and wood shop. She went on to receive BFA and MFA degrees in painting from the Yale School of Art. (Her classmates at Yale included Chuck Close, Nancy Graves and Richard Serra.) If one merely considers the forms, Anderson’s work is about movement: light and shade passing over eggshell-smooth surfaces to revealing volumes that swell and taper. However, her fascination with the way things move is more than formal.
